Meet Lola Turquoise, a hotrod-loving Pinup from New Zealand's tight-knit Pinup community and our Pinup of the Month for May.
How did you choose your Pinup name? I like the song Lola by the Kinks and Turquoise is my birthstone and a pretty cool colour. Why do you love pinup? I like taking pride in my appearance (although I can get a bit carried away with being matchy-matchy) and being told you've made someone's day at the supermarket just by the way you were dressed, well that makes my day. Then there's the crazy bunch of ladies that take me as I am.
Would you like to share your favourite beauty tip?
Always wear moisturizers with sunscreen! What’s your favourite aspect of the Pinup and Rockabilly subculture?
Its one big girl gang! And I love how we can all be different and while it may not be your thing, appreciate someones take on pinup or rockabilly style.
When did you know that pinup was the right thing for you?
The first time I wore my mint green and white pokadot Hell Bunny dress out at a hotrod event. I am socially awkward with low self esteem and to have club members come up to me and say I looked great made me feel better about myself - the difference a dress can make, who knew! What advice would you like to give to new pinups?
There is no wrong answer, it is your interpretation of the styling/lifestyle. Youtube is great for tutorials on learning how to do hair and make up - you know the deal, practice make perfect (or rough enough is good enough ) and join the social groups on facebook even if its just to lurk in the backgound, there may be others asking the same questions that are in your head.

Yep meant to get down to -1'c tonight, so I wear merino long sleeved tops under my dresses and socks under opaque tights with my colour coordinated chucks.
